Items made of glass, ceramic, etc. are normally stored in stacks and get damaged during the storage due to the accumulated stress of heaped stock. These items are known as breakable items. Here a multi-item inventory model of breakable items is developed, where demands of the items are stock dependent, breakability rates increase linearly with stock and nonlinearly with time. Due to non-linearity and complexity of the problem, the model is solved numerically and final decisions are made using Genetic Algorithm (GA). In a particular case, model is solved analytically as well as numerically and results are compared. Models are developed with both crisp and uncertain inventory costs. For uncertain inventory costs both fuzzy and stochastic parameters are considered. A chance constrained approach is followed to deal with simultaneous presence of stochastic and fuzzy parameters. Different numerical examples are used to illustrate the problem for different cases.  相似文献

Recently, in the literature, a measure of tail heaviness has been proposed based on Rényi entropy. This measure is very useful in the sense that it can be used to measure tail heaviness even for the distributions for which the kurtosis measure does not exist. Nadarajah and Zografos [Nadarajah, Zografos, Information Sciences 153 (2003), 119-138] have derived the expression for this measure for different univariate continuous distributions. But, this measure can only be used for the lifetime of a new item. In case of used item, this measure needs some modification. In this paper, we have modified the measure accordingly so that it can be used in the case of used item and also for the new item. We have also derived expressions for this measure for sixteen different univariate distributions and ten other standard distributions derived from the general distributions used in reliability and survival analysis. The most of the results obtained in the literature in this direction can be obtained as particular cases of our general results.  相似文献

A novel approach has been taken to produce (1) spherical Al2O3 particles by decarbonisation and (2) spherical AlN particles by nitridation and subsequent decarbonisation of C@Al2O3 composite particles. C@Al2O3 composite particles have been prepared by heterogeneous nucleation and crystallisation of Al(NO3)3 on surfactant encapsulated carbon nano particles followed by evaporative decomposition of the nitrate. Overpressure (0.4 MPa) of nitrogen and a temperature range (1723–1873 K) have been used for nitridation. Whiskers as well as spherical particles of AlN have been observed in the final product. The final product has been characterised by X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscope and Carbon–Hydrogen–Nitrogen content analysis by Elemental Analyser and the mechanism of the nitridation reaction has been analysed. The average size of the spherical AlN particles consisting of crystallites in nano-dimensions (30–50 nm) could be varied from 100 nm to 8 μm by changing the composition of the sol.  相似文献

This paper presents the recently introduced modified subgradient method for optimization and its effectiveness in a fuzzy transportation model. Here a multi-item balanced transportation problem (MIBTP) is formulated where unit transportation costs are imprecise. Also available spaces and budgets at destinations are limited but imprecise. The objective is to find a shipment schedule for the items that minimizes the total cost subjected to imprecise warehouse and budget constraints at destinations. The proposed model is reduced to a multi-objective optimization problem using tolerances, then to a crisp single-objective one using fuzzy non-linear programming (FNLP) technique and Zimmermann's method. The above fuzzy MIBTP is also reduced to another form of deterministic one using modified sub-gradient method (MSM). These two crisp optimization problems are solved by Genetic Algorithm (GA). As an extension, fuzzy multi-item balanced solid transportation problems (STPs) with and without restrictions on some routes and items are formulated and reduced to deterministic ones following FNLP and Zimmermann's methods. These models are also solved by GA. Models are illustrated numerically, optimum results of fuzzy MIBTP from two deductions are compared. Hydrogen can be cited as prospective source of clean power. In this work hydrogen rich syn-gas generated from the agro-waste, empty cotton bolls was injected into an IC engine in continuous mode along with gasoline. At the air-fuel ratio of 23.40, specific fuel consumption of 0.35 kg kWh?1, the engine could be operated with higher efficiency than with gasoline alone. A distinct reduction in emission characteristics could also be seen. Empty cotton bolls derived after removal of cotton from the flower in field, was first studied for fuel properties. The reasonably high heating value (HHV) of 17.54 MJ kg?1 suggested that it could be a precursor to hydrogen via two stepped thermo-chemical process. The first step involved slow pyrolysis of the biomass at 500 °C for 60 min at a heating rate of 10 °C min?1 yielding 39.71% bio-char by weight. The C, H, N, S and O contents of the produced bio-char was 59.91, 2.91, 0.72, 0.47 and 35.99% respectively and its HHV was 26.7 MJ kg?1. Steam gasification of this bio-char, at 700 °C and water flowrate of 7 mL min?1 exhibited maximum hydrogen yield of 67.42% (v/v) in the syn-gas mixture. Subsequent enrichment of the gas using ethanolamine/ethylene diamine and KMnO4 solutions resulted in more than 90% (v/v) hydrogen in the combustible gas mixture and the test engine could be effectively operated.  相似文献

The study deals with the problem of maintenance policy selection for an industrial unit. Maintenance policy selection is a multiple criteria decision making problem. Criteria considered here are ‘risk of equipment failure’ and the ‘cost of maintenance’. The maintenance policies considered are Corrective Maintenance (CM), Time Based Maintenance (TBM), Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Shutdown Maintenance (SM). For modeling, fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) has been employed. Chang’s extended analysis has been applied to deal with the fuzzy variables and the preferred maintenance policy alternative is found out using FANP analysis. The methodology was applied to a unit of a chemical plant and the suitable maintenance policy was found out for each of the 13 equipment of the unit. The results were compared to the earlier study using Analytic Hierarchal Process and Goal Programming (Arunraj and Maiti, 2010) vis-a-vis the existing practices. The results show that CBM is preferred when the risk possessed by an equipment is very high while CM is preferred in those cases where risk is low and cost is the main consideration. But in cases where both cost and risk are somewhat equally important, TBM is the preferred option.  相似文献

An attempt was made to individually analyze a germplasm collection of 54 indigenous Indian sesame cultivars for fatty acid and lignan composition of their seed oil by gas chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography, respectively. The entries varied in their fatty acid and lignan composition. The mean percentage contents of palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic and α‐linolenic acids ranged between 10–22, 5–10, 38–50, 18–43 and less than 1 whereas sesamol, sesamin and sesamolin scored between 3–37, 27–67, 20–59 of the total percentage of lignan, respectively. The highest percentage of α‐linolenic acid (ALA) was obtained in Var9 (1.3 % of the total fatty acids). Among the lignans, high sesamin content is considered to be significant, particularly in terms of long shelf life and nutraceutical value of sesame seed oil. The study has broadened our understanding related to differential biochemical composition of the rich sesame germplasms, thereby providing us with a useful groundwork for identifying potential targets and suitable cultivars for genetic engineering approaches to be undertaken in order to improve the nutritional quality of sesame oil, which in turn would be beneficial towards human health.  相似文献

Herein, a novel gellan polysaccharide‐based amphiphilic copolymer was synthesized for the development of simvastatin‐loaded micellar nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were explored for their controlled drug release and improved pharmacodynamic potentials. The copolymer was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and elemental analysis. The onset of copolymer micellization was detected by fluorescence spectroscopy. Simvastatin was loaded into micellar particles by solvent evaporation method and the particles were then characterized by microscopic and light scattering techniques. The physical state of drug was studied by X‐ray diffraction analysis. Pharmacodynamic assessment of the micellar preparations was done on rabbit models. The copolymer formed micellar nanoparticles in water. Critical micellar concentration was 9.12mg/l. The micellar particles (426.8–912.6nm) entrapped a maximum of 18.86% drug. Higher negative zeta potential indicated physical stability of micellar systems. A simple diffusion mechanism was operative in the event of comparatively faster drug release in pH6.8 phosphate buffer solution. No significant drug‐copolymer interaction was traced by FTIR spectroscopy. The amorphization of drug into micellar particles reduced LDL‐cholesterol level by ~45% in hyperlipidemic rabbits and this was about 2.5 times higher than pure drug dispersion. Copolymer micellar nanoparticles of simvastatin could control cholesterol level in hyperlipidemic rabbits and thus had potential in drug delivery applications. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl.
